As one of UKEC’s partners, the University of Liverpool regularly updates us with their events, scholarships, newly launches courses and student opportunities in general. This month, they have some exciting news for prospective students who are intending to study on all levels and we are here to share them with you.

First of all, what can you do if you have an offer conditional upon your proficiency of the English language and your UKVI IELTS score does not meet the condition on the offer letter? Well, you can attend the Pre-sessional English (PSE) programme provided by the University of Liverpool English Language Centre, a specialist English language facility set up to help international students in meeting the English language requirement. It is also accredited by the British Council and has recently gained accreditation from the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP).

In order to validate your chances of advancing to an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a British University, you may have to choose from the two available options: English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Pre-sessional Pathway and Management Studies Pre-sessional Pathway. The former is for those with a more general direction whilst the latter is specifically for students who intend to study at a degree level in the University of Liverpool Management School. Upon passing either of these course exams, you will automatically progress to your selected degree programme at the University of Liverpool with no IELTS necessary.

Application closes on 30 May for the 10 week course starting on 4 July, alternatively you can apply before 27 June for a space on the the 6 week course starting on 1 August so there is still time as well as spaces up for grabs. For more information on the banding requirements and how to enroll, please refer to the official website here.

In other news, the Chemistry Department has launched a pilot international postgraduate research studentship programme that will grant full tuition waiver to a selection of highly qualified non-EU nationals with BSs or MSc degrees from top universities around the world admitted to its PhD programme.

Finally, don’t let us wrap up the post without telling you that Liverpool has been voted the third best destination in the UK to visit on Tripadvisor. In additional, it was also crowned the most entrepreneurial city throughout the nation, just to give you a sense of how much of a thriving town Liverpool is.
